DECEMBER 1
7 P.M. NEWS REPEAT (STORY, SHUT OFF TEST AND PHONE BANK)

THIS WEEK WE ARE HIGHLIGHTING THE TRANSITION TO DIGITAL TELEVISION. ITS 77 DAYS AWAY: FEBRUARY 17. THAT'S WHEN ALL TELEVISION STATIONS HAVE TO TURN OFF THEIR ANALOG SIGNALS AND ONLY BROADCAST IN DIGITAL. JOHN MCCAA IS HERE WITH ONE OF THE TOP QUESTIONS BEING ASKED OF OUR ENGINEERS. WE'VE HELD PHONE BANKS ON THIS ISSUE A FEW TIMES. THE DIGITAL TRANSITION CAN BE CONFUSING. AND THERE ARE QUESTIONS THAT CONTINUE TO CREEP UP. ONE OF THE TOP ONES WE HEAR IS ROOFTOP OR ATTIC-ANTENNAS, RABBIT EARS, SMART ANTENNAS, ETC. WHAT IS THE BEST OPTION, AS INSOFAR AS AN ANTENNA GOES FOR MY SET? THE VERY BEST OPTION GUARANTEED TO WORK 100 PERCENT OF THE TIME IS TO GET AN OUTSIDE ANTENNA THAT IS A VHF/UHF COMBO ANTENNA. ONCE IT'S INSTALLED TUNE IT TOWARD CEDAR HILL... BECAUSE THAT IS THE LOCATION OF ALL THE STATION TRANSMITTERS. BUT AGAIN IN SOME PLACES RABBIT EARS MAY BE JUST FINE. BUT IT'S NOT A SURE THING. A VHF/UHF IS THE ONLY GUARANTEED ROUTE. WE WILL HAVE ANOTHER TEST FOR YOU THIS THURSDAY. IT'S A MARKET-WIDE TEST WHERE ALL TELEVISION STATIONS WILL TURN OFF OUR ANALOG SIGNALS SIMULTANEOUSLY. THAT'S AT 6:25 A.M., 6:25 P.M. AND 10:25 P.M. FOR FIVE MINUTES. THIS WILL GIVE YOU ENOUGH TIME TO CHECK ALL THE TELEVISION STATIONS IN YOUR HOUSE.

DECEMBER 4

IF YOU STILL SEE US, YOU'RE OKAY. IF YOU DON'T SEE US, YOU'LL SEE SOMETHING LIKE THIS. ON IT IS A PHONE NUMBER 877-DTV-5353. YOU WILL NEED TO CALL THAT NUMBER IF YOU SEE THIS PICTURE...COMING UP AT 6:25 TONIGHT DURING OUR TEST. THIS SAME TEST WILL HAPPEN AT 10:25 TONIGHT. AGAIN AT 6:25 TONIGHT WE WILL TURN OFF OUR ANALOG SIGNAL AND ONLY TRANSMIT IN DIGITAL FOR 5 MINUTES. AS ALWAYS...YOU CAN HEAD TO OUR WEBSITE AT WFAA.COM/DTV.
